David Glassburn, 1940-2012, Father to David '81, Steve '83 and Pat '84 David W. Glassburn, 71, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012 in Adena Regional Medical Center following an 8 month battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 28, 1940 in Pike County, the son of the late Walden and Mildred (Wheeler) Glassburn. On July 30, 1960 he married Judith Reichelderfer. Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Judy; sons, David A. (Jackie) Glassburn, Steve Glassburn and his companion, Angie and Patrick (Chris) Glassburn, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Shawn (Holly), Zach and Chad Glassburn, Amanda (Robert) Rue, Tiffany, Emily, Haley and Aaron Glassburn, all of Chillicothe; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Noah, Caleb, Callie, Seth, Jacob and one to arrive soon; a sister, Barbara (John) Duncan, Lancaster; step-mother, Leona Glassburn, Chillicothe and mother-in-law, Eleanor Reichelderfer, Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a great-niece and his father-in-law. David was a 1958 graduate of Chillicothe High School and was an employee of Mead Paper with 42 years of service, retiring in 2003. He was a member of UPIU Local 731, American Legion Post 757, VFW Post 108 and Eagles Aerie 600. David gave his life to the Lord on Jan. 8, 2012. Following cremation, graveside funeral services will be held at the discretion of the family. Calling hours will not be observed. The FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family. Joe Stewart, UHS 1989, 1971-2012 Joseph W. Stewart, 40, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord at 8:30am Friday, February 10, 2012, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 16, 1971, in Columbus, OH to Gerald G. and Phyllis G. (Hall) Stewart. On June 19, 2010, he married the former Karen L. Doles, who survives. Also surviving are his mother, Phyllis Stewart, Chillicothe; his brother Gerald G. “L.J.” (Irene) Stewart; sister and brother-in-law Angie (Jeff) Allen; his twin brother John Stewart, all of Chillicothe; nieces and nephews: Crystal (Justin) McDonald, Erica Williamson, Jeffrey Allen, Erika Allen, Jordan Allen, Michael Merek, Heather (C.J.) Dove, T.J. Stewart, Tanner Doles, Joshua Doles and Elizabeth Doles; great-nieces Madison and Makenzie McDonald; father-in-law and mother-in-law Timothy and Betty Doles, Chillicothe; and a brother-in-law Tad (Kim) Doles, Chillicothe. He was predeceased by his father, Gerald Stewart; his maternal grandparents Jay and Earthel Hall; and paternal grandparents Gerald and Dorothy Stewart. Joe was the co-owner/operator of the Pizza Chef Restaurant. He was a graduate of Unioto High School, Class of 1989 and was recently commissioned as a Baptist Minister. Joe was an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast. He loved playing softball, golfing, fishing, especially on the Ohio River and shooting. He loved his Cleveland Browns. Funeral services will be held at Noon Tuesday at the Haller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home.

Opal Gire McKibben, UHS 1938, 1916-2012 Opal M. McKibben, 95, of Chillicothe, died 1:20 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012 in Westmoreland Place following an extended illness. She was born May 28, 1916, in Springfield, Ohio, to the late Carey and Hazel Leamon Gire. Surviving are a son-in-law, Thomas (Kim) Kellough, of Chillicothe; a grandson, Casey E. Kellough, of Chillicothe; a sister, Audith Ann Ice, of Columbus; several nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Phyllis Lynn Kellough; a brother, Herald Gire; and a sister, Ruby Moore. Opal was a member of High Street Church of Christ in Christian Union. She had worked at Kresges and K-Mart and had worked at the Ross County Senior Citizen's Center for 29 years. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2012 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Bruce Viar officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery. Charles Britt, Unioto Attendee, 1947-2012, Father to Kay '81, Samantha '85 and Keri Spencer '92 Charles A. Britt, 64, of Chillicothe, died 8:34 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012 at his residence unexpectedly. He was born October 25, 1947, in Johnson City, TN to the late Robert F. and Tersey D Dugger Britt. On June 26, 1975, he married Betty J. Gilbert who survives; also surviving are children, Starlena Kay Spencer, Samantha Sue Spencer and Keri Ann (Terry) Crowe, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Danena Doles, Jasmine Banks, Anthony D. Spencer, Eric D. Hawk, Kyle L. Crowe and Dathan "A.C." Hawk; great grandchildren, Braelynn N. McGraw and Jadrian A. Kerry; and several friends, including special friends, Pappy and Tim Fairbanks, of Chillicothe. Charles served in the U.S. Army and was a security guard at Chilpaco/Glatfelter. He was a past member of American Legion Post 62. A graveside service will be held 12 noon, Wednesday, January 18, 2012 in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with Terry Russell officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
